Best Dog Parks within Greater Portland (Maine)

Having a pup with an abundance of energy and who loves to socialize and play, we’ve found it so helpful taking him to a dog park on a regular basis to socialize with other dogs and humans and providing him a safe place to run and play off-leash. There are many wonderful trails and parks in the Greater Portland area for pups but our current favorites to visit are:

1.     Twin Brook Recreation Center in Cumberland – is a 4 season park with 22 acres of fields and 4 miles of wooded walking trails that is open sun up to sun down. We love to play ball, explore the trails and enjoy being outdoors with plenty of space to roam.

2.     Capisic Brook Trail – Capisic Park is a public park conveniently located in the center of Portland. It is an 18 acre nature preserve that surrounds Portland’s largest fresh water pond, with undeveloped side trails and a birdwatching area. The Capisic Brook Trail is 0.5 mile one way, so an easy one mile walk (both ways), conveniently located and plenty of things for your pup to see and sniff.

3.     Willard Beach – is one of our favorite beaches to go to in Greater Portland. The beach is in a convenient location, has plenty of parking, and gorgeous views of sailboats. From October 1-April 30, dogs are allowed on the beach from 6am-9pm off leash, and during the summer months from 7-9am and 7-9pm. Our pup loves to run in the sand (and water), play ball and chase other dogs, no matter the season.
